Lidl has introduced a new way for customers to earn rewards, replacing Coupon Plus with a points-based scheme within its Lidl Plus app, to give shoppers more choice when selecting loyalty programme perks.
Coupon Plus, which previously allowed shoppers to receive rewards or free ‘treats’ during the month when they unlocked certain spending thresholds, will no longer be available in the Lidl Plus app from today (05 May 2026).
Instead, customers will now be able to earn Lidl Plus Points when spending at the discount supermarket. These can be redeemed on perks within its Rewards Marketplace, aiming to give shoppers “more freedom” to choose how their loyalty is rewarded.
“Everything we do is driven by a deep understanding of customer needs and a commitment to exceeding their expectations,” said Louise Weise, Chief Customer Officer at Lidl GB. “We’ve listen[ed] to customers and it was clear from the feedback that they wanted more freedom to decide the rewards that suit them.”
“Since the launch of the Lidl Plus app, we’ve continuously offered innovative new ways for customers to enjoy their shopping experiences,” she added.
“Lidl Points is the natural evolution of this journey – giving our customers the freedom to choose their own rewards.”
Last summer, Lidl added a new self-scanning feature to its Lidl Plus loyalty app, as part of its ongoing investment into digitalising in-store experiences, which included the roll out its Click, Reserve & Collect service and deployment of self checkouts (SCO) across its UK stores.
