Subway has announced that it will expand its partnership with ASDA, bringing up to 70 new restaurants to ASDA stores over the next four years.

The move, which will see the footprint of in-store Subway restaurants in ASDA grow by more than 50%, is part of the QSR brand’s wider EMEA expansion plans. Through strategic partnerships, franchise growth, new formats and increased demand for digital sales, Subway is looking to double its EMEA footprint to 10,000 restaurants by 2031.

This comes after Subway announced positive net restaurant growth as its partners continue to invest in the brand, and a +20% rise in online sales as more guests order through its app, kiosks and third-party delivery and q-commerce platforms.

“We’re building on a strong foundation across EMEA, with significant opportunities to grow in both existing and new markets,” said Tracy Gehlan, President of Subway EMEA. “Our ambition to double our footprint reflects our confidence in the brand, our development partners and the long-term potential across the region.”

“By expanding in the right locations and improving the experience for our guests and franchisees, we can continue bringing Subway to more guests in EMEA.”

In the last 18 months, Subway has also signed six new Master Franchise agreements in EMEA, as well as announcing a new agreement with Emerging Bites to open 300 restaurants across Austria, Hungary, Slovakia, Slovenia and the Czech Republic over the next ten years.
