UK consumers are ‘cashing in’ on Spring wardrobe clear-outs, says data from Collect+, which has prompted 6.3million parcels from re-sale apps to be sent or collected from its local store delivery and collection network.
With 47% of consumers selling through marketplaces in the last year, re-sale platforms continue to boom in popularity as second-hand clothes and other items are increasingly being used as extra income earners.
Collect+ data shows that local convenience stores are facilitating this growing demand for delivery and collection points; during Spring 2026, parcels processed through Collect+ stores peaked at over 250k in a single day, as people used the Easter Bank holiday to declutter wardrobes.
“People are not just decluttering – they’re cashing in… it’s turning local corner shops into essential parcel hubs for communities, as people look for safe and familiar places to collect and send parcels,” said Sam Holden, Director of Parcels and E-Commerce at PayPoint.
As consumers look for convenient ways to send re-sale goods, 52% said they are more likely to visit their local convenience shop if it offers parcel services – providing local retailers a welcome boost in footfall and spend. Younger consumers are leading the way, with 97% of 25–34-year-olds picking up additional groceries and items when visiting a store for a parcel.
“This trend in turn is driving extra footfall and spend for local convenience stores, whilst also generating commission at a time when local retailers need it most,” Holden added.
