The Salvation Army will work with post-purchase and returns solution, ZigZag, to divert unwanted clothing from disposal to donations.
The Donate by Post initiative will supply consumers with a returns portal that routes unwanted goods to The Salvation Army, allowing members of the public to quickly and easily donate pre-loved clothing and accessories at over 17,000 InPost lockers across the country.
“Through our Donate by Post initiative, we’re making it easier than ever for people to give their unwanted clothing, shoes and accessories a second life,” Shaunacy Burne, Corporation Donation Manager at the Salvation Army Trading Company, said.
Consumers shopping on ZigZag’s partner retailer websites will be able to access a link to the returns portal to make donations, with money raised going towards the Salvation Army’s efforts to support people in need across the UK.
Burne added that the collaboration with ZigZag would “transform convenience into meaningful change” by “creating a solution that combines sustainability and social impact.”
“Most people would love to see their unwanted items go to a good home or recycled,” said Al Gerrie, CEO at ZigZag. “Our smart portal will provide digital visibility for charities, whilst providing a barrier-free route for retailers, to help facilitate hassle-free donations.”
He said ZigZag’s tech and returns expertise would help the charity “improve the efficiency of donations” as well as “giving products a new lease of life,” allowing The Salvation Army to continue its work supporting communities.
