Waitrose has announced it will deploy SOLUM’s Electronic Shelf Labels (ESLs) across its entire UK store estate, automating pricing updates to allow its Partners to spend more time focusing on customer service.
With rollout completion earmarked for 2026, SOLUM’s Newton Pro ESLs will reflect the look and feel of Waitrose’s stores, while rapid update speeds will support pricing accuracy across fresh, ambient and specialist categories.
The digital labels will also include features to help streamline operational tasks, such as indicating stock level status, which could be deployed in the future.
Mark Duckworth, Country Manager UK & Ireland at SOLUM, said that the partnership involved close collaboration to “deliver meaningful value” to the retailer’s stores, adding it would “contribute to the high standards Waitrose sets” while “enabling further innovation.”
Waitrose is the latest retailer to deploy SOLUM’s ESLs, after Lincolnshire Co-op announced it would invest £4million in digital label deployment in November and Currys completed its estate-wide rollout of ESLs to all 295 UK&I stores in partnership with Solum and Vestcom last month.
