Lincolnshire Co-op will go live with SOLUM‘s electronic shelf labels (ESLs) across 100 stores by the end of 2025, aiming to enhance operational efficiency, sustainability and customer experience (CX).

The £4million investment aims to help store colleagues react faster to pricing changes, allowing them to “work smarter” and “deliver even more effective customer service.”

Lincolnshire Co-op estimates that it can change ~550 labels manually in a typical week, however this can rise to 2,000+ during promotional changeovers, representing a time-intensive task for store staff. It said the ESL rollout would remove the need for paper labels, saving colleagues’ time and freeing them to spend time with customers.

“At Lincolnshire Co-op, our goal has always been to make life better in our communities,” said Andy Warman, CTO at Lincolnshire Co-op. “Embracing digital solutions, such as ESLs, enables us to operate more efficiently and sustainably, while allowing our colleagues to spend more time helping customers.”

Deploying SOLUM’s Newton Pro ESLs, Lincolnshire Co-op will modernise operations, replacing paper price labels with real-time digital pricing and promotions. The move also contributes to the retailer’s sustainability goals by eliminating paper waste, while enhancing operational efficiency and establishing a digital foundation in line with its long-term environmental objectives.

“We’re delighted to partner with Lincolnshire Co-op on this digital transformation journey, delivering measurable improvements in operational efficiency, customer engagement and sustainability,” Mark Duckworth, Country Manager at SOLUM UK&I, added.
