Currys has now completed its estate-wide rollout of electronic shelf labels (ESLs) to all 295 UK&I stores in partnership with Solum and Vestcom, as part of its efforts to improve CX in-store by freeing up staff to focus on customer service.

Earlier this year, Currys announced its would digitalise in-store labels, with Solum providing the ESLs and Vestcom leading on data-integration and software, aiming to supporting its colleagues in their day-to-day roles, while making it easier for customers to shop for tech.

A game-changing step for stores

Martin Raper, Head of Operational Excellence for UK&I at Currys confirmed the completion of the rollout in a LinkedIn post, saying the deployment represented “a huge investment and a game-changing step for our stores.”

Commenting on the milestone, he added it was a “testament to how technology can transform retail operations and enhance customer experience.”

Raper also said that the retailer had saved over 400,000 labour hours in manual pricing tasks through the ESLs, which had enabled greater pricing agility, while giving more time back to its colleagues to serve shoppers.

Making shopping simpler & smarter

As well as colleague time-saving, the ESLs also power dynamic digital displays, providing Currys‘ shoppers with real-time pricing and clearer product information.

The e-labels also allow customers to scan QR codes to find out more information, making it easy and convenient to compare, choose and buy the right tech when considering purchases at the shelf-edge.

“By delivering real-time pricing and clearer product information, we’re making shopping for customers simpler and smarter,” said Lindsay Haselhurst, COO at Currys.
