Gumtree has partnered with Mangopay to launch wallet-first payments as part of its transformation from a traditional classifieds site into a fully transactional consumer-to-consumer (CTC) marketplace.
With around ten million monthly visitors and nearly two million active listings, Gumtree will begin rolling out wallet-first payments in selected categories, ahead of a wider launch in 2026.
Mangopay’s payments infrastructure and re-spend functionality will enable sellers to instantly reuse their earnings to buy other items. Users will also be able to receive funds directly on-platform; replacing offline transactions and creating a seamless, secure experience.
“Partnering with Mangopay marks a key step in our transition to become a fully transactional C2C marketplace for the home, where transactions are effortless and secure.Their advanced payment infrastructure and expertise provide the foundation we need to build greater trust with our users and grow our community of buyers and sellers.”
Kim Faura, Joint Managing Director, Gumtree.
