Gardening Naturally, an eco-friendly online gardening business, has increased fulfilment speed and boosted revenues after deploying an ERP and warehouse management system (WMS) from Forterro’s Orderwise.
The family-run gardening business, which was founded in 2007, operates seven ecommerce websites and supplies more than 60 garden centres nationwide.
The seasonal nature of its business sees ~70% of Gardening Naturally’s annual turnover taking place between April and July, making warehouse efficiency and logistics coordination critical to its performance. It also manages a complex multi-channel set-up, spanning its own DTC websites, as well as trading through Amazon, eBay and other online marketplaces, with each channel coming with its own complexities.
“Before, it could take three hours to pick and process 200 orders – we can now do that in just five minutes,” said Scott Brandreth, MD of Gardening Naturally. “At our busiest, we’re dispatching up to 5,000 orders a day. Without Orderwise, there’s no way we could have scaled to meet that demand.”
Using Orderwise, Gardening Naturally has unified its ecommerce and warehouse management processes, and automated key fulfilment workflows. It has also integrated automatic packing equipment and machinery to dramatically speed up despatch.
Advanced delivery orchestration ensures 99% of orders are automatically assigned to the right carriers, while real-time visibility across its multiple channels helps its team hit same-day shipping targets and Amazon Prime KPIs.
With all its orders now integrated through Orderwise, Gardening Naturally has seen fulfilment speed increase by 3,500%, while revenues have tripled since deploying the solution.
“The reliability and scalability of Orderwise make it invaluable,” Brandreth added. “It’s robust, efficient and continues to evolve with our needs. The system gives us confidence that we can keep growing, even during our busiest seasons.”
“Gardening Naturally is an outstanding example of how a modern, integrated ERP and WMS can unlock performance and scalability, [turning] seasonal pressure into a competitive advantage and a foundation for sustained growth,” Tom Price, Director at Forterro, said.
