Virgin Media O2 (VMO2) has rebuilt its digital content ecosystem, replacing multiple legacy systems with a single headless CMS, Storyblok, which it says will save more than £2 million.

The telecoms group has migrated over 6,000 pages from platforms including Drupal, LifeRay, Strapi and eGain, creating a single source of truth for thousands of device variants and streamlining operations across more than 200 retail locations.

The new system supports 10,000+ agents and editors, with features such as real-time, QR code-based content editing for promotions and live events.

According to VMO2, the shift has cut content delivery times significantly, with entire sites – from legal and help pages to customer experience hubs – rebuilt in days rather than weeks.

“Storyblok enabled us to achieve a multi-million-pound annual saving, streamlining and centralising multiple platforms and use cases into one,” said Jim Drury, Head of Frontend Technologies at Virgin Media O2.

The new CMS also underpinned the launch of the Samsung Galaxy S25 earlier this year, enabling richer campaign content, faster updates and closer alignment across teams. VMO2 said the platform contributed to record pre-order sales for the device.

“Virgin Media O2’s transformation is exactly the kind of impact we built Storyblok for,” said Dominik Angerer, CEO and Co-Founder of Storyblok.

“Replacing a tangle of legacy systems with a single, flexible CMS saves millions, and unlocks speed, scale, and creativity across the entire organisation. This is what modern content operations should look like.”
