Dobbies Garden Centres will partner with payments platform, Adyen, deploying its unified commerce solution to deliver friction-free payments and enhanced omnichannel customer experiences.

Unifying cross-channel payments in one central platform will enable faster, more seamless payments for shoppers. It will also provide colleagues with a single view of customer transactions, accelerating returns processing and helping to resolve payment queries quicker.

“We’re pleased to partner with a brand so rooted in its community, supporting their teams with the technology to offer smooth, flexible payment experiences,” said Nicole Olbe, MD at Adyen.

Consistent, modern payment experiences

The move will also allow Dobbies to leverage transactional data to enhance its loyalty programme, which now has 1.4million+ members signed up to its scheme, to offer more personalised rewards and incentives.

“Our customers aren’t just shopping for plants, they’re creating garden living spaces, both inside and outside their homes,” said Keith Keenan, IT Director at Dobbies. “Adyen gives us the agility to stay ahead of retail trends and the visibility to ensure we’re stocked with what matters most to our customers.”

Keenan added that its partnership with Adyen would help it “deliver a consistent, modern payment experience, while empowering our colleagues with real-time insights that enhance our service.”

Investing for growth

Dobbies’ network of nationwide garden centres is currently undergoing a £4million investment programme, aimed at regenerating stores, freeing up space for larger and new ranges and creating more seamless shopping experiences.

Last week, Dobbies’ Beaconsfield became the fourth location to unveil its new-look as part of the refurbishment scheme, following upgrades in its Cadnam, Brighton and Hungerford stores.

“Following the success of the first three refurbished stores, it’s been great to maintain momentum with the completion of Beaconsfield,” said David Robinson, CEO of Dobbies.

“The results from the first three stores have been encouraging, with an improvement to both footfall and sales, as well as positive feedback from our colleagues and customers,” Robinson added, saying its continued investment in further store refurbs would be “completed over the course of this year and into 2026.”
