Amazon has launched its first-ever Second Chance Deal Days, offering UK customers discounts when shopping for second-hand items across categories including personal tech, fitness and games.

The event, which starts today and runs until September 9, offers customers savings of up to 70% off recommended retail prices.

Amazon says it has over 30 million second-hand products available in the UK through its two second-hand product programmes.

Amazon Resale offers used and open-boxed products that have been inspected before resale and allocated a condition classification from “Like New” to “Acceptable” with pricing reflective of costs. While its Amazon Renewed programme offers refurbished items, each of which has been inspected, tested and cleaned, via its selling partners.

“We’ve seen that once customers experience the value and quality of these products, they become confident second-chance shoppers, saving money along the way and helping to extend product lifecycles.
Customers can be assured that any used product they buy meets our quality standards and comes with Amazon’s customer service and return policies.

Two-thirds of British shoppers are now buying second-hand, driven by cost-of-living concerns, environmental concerns, and convenience, according to recent research carried out by the Centre for Economics and Business Research (CEBR).

Amazon highlights that the CEBR research shows that building customer trust is key for shoppers considering second-hand goods, with top concerns including product condition, lack of warranties, and seller trust.
