HubBox and PostNord International have launched a new partnership, enabling retailers to offer secure, convenient and sustainable fulfilment options to shoppers across the Nordics.
Integrating HubBox’s pick-up software at the checkout allows customers to choose their preferred out-of-home (OOH) fulfilment locations. Combined with PostNord‘s extensive OOH delivery network and logistics infrastructure, the partnership offers 19,000+ pick-up locations at lockers, service points and retail counters in Sweden, Denmark, Norway and Finland.
“This collaboration opens up OOH delivery across the region, supporting international retailers shipping into the Nordics as well as domestic brands looking for best-in-class software and ROI,” Sam Jarvis, CEO of HubBox, commented on LinkedIn. “We’re excited to continue working together to supercharge OOH growth across the Nordics.”
The move comes as demand for OOH delivery is rapidly growing within the territory. Now, over three quarters (77%) of Nordic shoppers cite pick-up locations as a top consideration in their buying journeys, motivated by the need for convenience, security and sustainability.
Offering a wider choice of delivery pick-up points, the HubBox x PostNord partnership allows shoppers to collect parcels flexibly and securely at a time that fits in with their daily routines. It also helps customers avoid missed deliveries – a friction point for shoppers, which also adds additional cost – and carbon emissions – for retailers arranging re-deliveries.
OOH deliveries – also referred to as Pick-up, drop-off (PUDO) – was one of the key trends coming out of The Delivery Conference earlier this year, where Emma Clarke, Senior Director of Product Management at Metapack, outlined the sizable opportunity of lockers in online fulfilment.
She pointed to reduced operating costs as a key benefit for retailers, with groups of parcels being delivered to a single locker block rather than individual home addresses. This could either be used to maintain margin or could be passed onto customers in lower delivery fees.
Metapack’s data suggests that PUDO has a 99.1% delivery success rate, helping to prevent failed deliveries, reduce WISMO (Where Is My Order) enquiries and stopping porch piracy instances.
