Co-op will deploy Deliveroo’s white-label solution, Deliveroo Express, in a UK grocery first, leveraging the technology to bring rapid delivery services to more of its UK stores.
Deliveroo Express allows retailers to power Quick Commerce (q-commerce) services on their own websites and apps using its technology infrastructure, with orders then fulfilled via the delivery firm’s rider network.
The move, which will allow more Co-op stores to offer rapid deliveries in under 60minutes, comes as the retailer seeks to extend its q-commerce offering available on its website to meet growing customer demand.
“Growing our quick commerce channel is a core part of our strategic approach,” Chris Conway, Quick Commerce Director at Co-op, explained. As part of this, Co-op’s ambition is to reach a 30% share of the UK’s rapid grocery delivery market.
“We are focussed on meeting the evolving needs of shoppers,” Conway added. “This includes making fast and reliable delivery of Co-op groceries available to more communities, and creating value through member price savings, as we see consumer appetite for quick and convenient grocery delivery continue to grow.”
“We’re thrilled to continue our partnership with Co-op as they adopt our white label delivery solution, supporting fast and reliable on-demand deliveries through their existing website,” said Suzy McClintock, VP of New Verticals at Deliveroo.
“Deliveroo Express is the next step in our mission to transform on-demand delivery, ensuring we remain the partner for growth, for grocers and retailers alike, helping them reach more consumers through their own online channels,” McClintock added.
