Womenswear brand Rixo has launched its resale offering, Rixo Pre-Loved, which allows shoppers to buy and sell second-hand items. The re-sale platform will also feature exclusive, curated ‘edits’ and pre-loved picks from its Founders Henrietta Rix and Orlagh McCloskey’s wardrobes.

In line with the fashion brand’s founding mission of “creating future vintage,” Rixo Pre-Loved is now available exclusively to UK shoppers, as the retailer aims to “cement its commitment to creating timeless treasures” and help customers “breathe new life” into their Rixo pieces.

“Launching Rixo Pre-Loved is a really proud moment for us. We’ve always designed with longevity in mind,” Co-Founder, Henrietta Rix, told TheIndustry.fashion. “Now, we’re giving our community a space to extend the life of their Rixo pieces, whether they’re passing them on or discovering something they missed the first time around.”

“It’s an important step in our sustainability journey and it’s about more than resale; it’s about creating a circular, connected community around conscious fashion.”

The move comes as separate new research from the Centre for Economics Business Research (CEBR) and Amazon estimates that pre-loved online shopping could top £4.8 billion in the UK this year, up from £4.3billion in 2024.

Original research of 10,000 European shoppers revealed that UK consumers saved £5.6billion in 2024 by opting for second-hand products, with cost-of-living pressures, wider availability of pre-owned items and heightened environmental consideration all driving demand.

“Britons are turning to second-hand shopping in large numbers,” Sam Littlejohn, Head of Returns and Repairs at Amazon, said. “But, to supercharge the sector’s growth, customers need to trust buying a used product as much as buying new.”

The CEBR-Amazon poll also showed that re-sale products now account for between 34%-45% of UK spending across popular categories including tech, fashion and home appliances.
