Deliveroo has launched its new drone delivery service in Dublin, partnering with Irish drone company, Manna, to bring food deliveries to customers’ doorsteps in as little as 3minutes.
From today (05 June 2025), Deliveroo users in Dublin 15 will be able to select drone delivery when ordering food on its app. Initially, the flying fulfilment service will cover a 3k area as Deliveroo conducts a testing phase in the next few weeks. “We’re excited to explore how drones can help us reach new customers, complementing our existing rider model,” Carlo Mocci, Chief Business Officer at Deliveroo, said.
The drones, which will be operated by Manna from its central hub, can reach flying speeds of up to 80kmph, and each drone is equipped with safety features including back-up systems and a parachute. Upon arrival, the drone hovers above customers’ driveways or gardens, lowering the food order on a secure, biodegradable tether.
“Our mission is to bring local neighbourhood favourites to as many people’s doors as possible, and constantly raise the bar on the experience and service we provide,” Mocci added.
Currently only available on select food takeway orders, Deliveroo hopes to expand the service to further restaurants, grocery and wider retail deliveries within the next six months.
