Secondhand marketplace, Vinted, has taken the top spot as the best rated UK retail app for 2025, according to the latest research from mobile specialists, Apadmi.

Original research in its App Champions Index, which ranks retailers’ apps offerings on user experience (UX), has revealed that Vinted scored 4.86/5 based on rating and reviews, the highest score for customers satisfaction among UK brands.

Vinted’s app, which stood out for its UX and community-driven model, fought off competition from large pureplays, including ASOS and Amazon, which also appeared in the top five, ranked second and fifth respectively.

While enabling shoppers with friction-free ways to buy and sell pre-loved goods via its app has earned it top spot in Apadmi’s index, Vinted continues to see strong retail performance as sustainability rises up the consumer agenda.

In April, it posted a +36% revenue rise amid growing demand for pre-loved goods and eco consumption. Earlier this month, Green Retail World reported that Vinted has become the top fashion retailer by volume in France in another win for the circular retail movement.

The resale and secondhand theme continued within the App Champions Index, with eBay also ranking as the UK’s third best app, with a score of 4.79/5. “Sustainability is no longer a trend — it’s a demand,” Sarah Toms, Retail Growth Director at Apadmi, said.

Retail apps that prioritise sustainability are leading the way in meeting user expectations, particularly among younger consumers.”

Coming second, ASOS continues to be a strong player in the retail app space, with a score of 4.82/5, with its app recognised for offering extensive product selections, intuitive search features and flexible payment options.

“Our goal is to be the number one fashion destination for our customers, and to inspire them by showing the right products, at the right time, through the right channel,” ASOS’s CRM Lead, Shaghig Babikian, said when speaking at Braze City x City London earlier this week.

Insight from over 150 brands in a separate report by Apadmi found that almost a quarter (24%) of retailers now feel apps are the most responsive CRM channel they use. Delivering personalised experiences and offering a cost-effective way to engage shoppers were the most important roles played by apps for 40% of the retailers polled. This comes as two thirds (67%) of brands expect their investment in digital loyalty to increase or significantly increase over the next 12 months.
