New Look will partner with supply chain traceability platform, TrusTrace, to create greater visibility across its supply chain, supporting more responsible sourcing as part of its ESG strategy. The partnership will support New Look’s journey to use tech and data to build more transparent, responsible and future-ready supply chains.

TrusTrace provides global fashion retailers with verified data as materials and finished goods move through their supply chains. Leveraging TrusTrace, New Look can monitor and manage supplier data with greater accuracy and depth. This allows the fashion retailer to better understand and measure the social and environmental impact of sourcing decisions and meet regulatory requirements.

“Through its open architecture, the platform will integrate with retailer, manufacturer and supplier systems, as well as other third-parties, such as certification agencies, life cycle datasets and other sustainability solution providers, to provide granular insight into New Look’s supply chain,” Shameek Ghosh, CEO and Co-Founder of TrusTrace, said.

Sue Fairley, Head of ESG, Quality and Sourcing at New Look, said the partnership would enable it to “gain deeper visibility” through its suppliers to “further mitigate supply chain risks.”

“We are always looking at ways we can digitally innovate to improve operations and enhance our sourcing strategy. With TrusTrace, we can confidently trace products back through the value chain, supporting our sustainability goals and ensuring we’re operating in a way that’s transparent and accountable.”

New Look committed to new ESG targets in October of last year as part of its ‘Kind To Our Core’ sustainability programme, as it looks to become net-zero by 2040.

One of the key aims of the scheme is to reduce the retailer’s carbon from direct Scope 1 emissions and Scope 2 emissions, which are created from purchased goods or services, by 46% by 2031. Since launching ‘Kind To Our Core’, it has lowered Scope 1 and 2 emissions by 18%.

“New Look has shown a clear commitment to building a future-ready supply chain – adopting traceability early and scaling it with intent.

As of the end of April, 100% of New Look’s core suppliers are now live on the TrusTrace platform. Moving forward, New Look is also committed to ensuring that all future suppliers are onboarded to the platform.

The partnership with TrusTrace follows recent developments from New Look, including a £30million investment from shareholders to accelerate its digital transformation, enhance online experiences and optimise in-store customer journeys.
