Polish delivery company, InPost, has acquired rival, Yodel, as it looks to accelerate its growth and seamlessly integrate out-of-home (OOH) and deliver-to-door fulfilment solutions. Once completed, the acquisition will see InPost UK’s market share rise to approximately 8%, making it the UK’s third largest ecommerce logistics carrier.

The acquisition builds on the partnership established between InPost and Yodel in October last year, when Yodel began providing last-mile services through InPost’s “locker-to-door” service. “This acquisition marks a pivotal milestone in InPost’s journey to revolutionise the UK delivery market,” Rafał Brzoska, Founder & CEO of InPost Group, commented.

“We have just fast-forwarded 5 years of organic expansion in the UK and it is a clear reflection of our long-term commitment to this market, where we see enormous opportunity for growth.”

Combining InPost’s OOH delivery network with Yodel’s home delivery capabilities will scale its operations. Rapidly increasing to ~300million+ parcels annually, it will grow its merchant base to over 700+ ecommerce stores and operate 10,000 Automated Parcel Machines (APMs), totalling 18,000 OOH delivery points.

It will also expand its service offering to provide greater convenience, both to retailers and shoppers. “Combining doorstep deliveries with our locker network… we will be able to provide customers and ecommerce retailers with the reliability, flexibility, and efficiency they expect.” Neil Kuschel, CEO of InPost UK, added.
