John Lewis has confirmed it will expand its repair service to all UK stores, after completing a successful pilot.
The service will continue to be run in partnership with Johnsons, which us owned by Timpson Group, and allows customers to drop off items – from fashion repairs and alterations to handbag restorations – at their local John Lewis store. The service will accept any brand, and will also offer John Lewis loyalty members a 5% discount on single repairs.
“We’re so excited to bring this service to all John Lewis stores. John Lewis has always been committed to providing a brilliant retail experience for customers, and repair adds another dimension to that.”
Katie Papakonstantinou, Director of Services & Hospitality, John Lewis
The roll out comes after John Lewis saw strong success within its five store pilot, which launched in July 2024. During the trail, it saw the strongest demand for repairs of minor rips and seams, as well as trouser alterations.
With continued shopper demand for more sustainable consumption, the Circular Fashion Innovation Network (CFIN) estimates that now 81% of UK brands and retailers have included circularity as part of their five-year strategy. For John Jewis, repair is a key component of enhancing its circular retail offering, as Marija Rompani, John Lewis Partnership’s Director of Ethics & Sustainability, explained: “repair is a crucial part of the circular economy and mirrors our commitment to designing items with quality and longevity in mind, as part of our circular strategy.”
